The classification system in the ATC is independant of the rank structure, and is linked to the training syllabus which all cadets partake in. To attain a classification level you have to past a short multiple choice test on subjects related to aviation and the Corps, such as Principles of Flight, Propulsion, Navigation, Initial Expedition Training and Radio Communications. This might sound like a lot of work, but the subjects are taught by staff with specialist knowledge who try to make the learning process as enjoyable as possible!
